HELLO from ProTeens 2011!

Formal and informal education and learning are best shared with students by using practical, experiential and fun approaches and methodologies. Currently, academic preparations for formal examinations are extensively and systematically taught in Malaysian schools. Additionally, these can be extensively used and applied via co-curricular and non-academic activities that can be offered and organized. External parties and partners can best do this as teachers and school administrators are already packed with core school responsibilities.

Image Platform Sdn Bhd (Bsmart) is taking this challenge of providing enhanced as well as practical usages of all that are learned at school by Malaysian teenagers for them to go hands-on and to use their creativity, innovativeness and implement them in the utmost professional manner and approaches. Our new REALITY SHOW program aptly named Professional Teenagers (ProTeens), to be broadcasted via IPTV and TV, will provide the platform, the education and the valuable experiences of leaving school with an edge of becoming more confident, more qualified and more matured in pursuing the next level of further study for graduates of ProTeens 2011 and school leavers.

This program, in its maiden episodes, will involve Mara Junior Science College (MRSM) students to be selected as participants and to journey on a path of extreme challenges, mind-quizzing and problem solving scenarios and competitive activities. All these with guidance from their teachers and industry professionals while under the scrutiny and eyeing judges consisting of expert panels, peers and the Malaysian public scoring for the teams using SMS and other new media platforms. It is envisioned that this program will hit the other government boarding schools, polytechnics and the regular schools SOON!

ProTeens will definitely add another valuable and useful content for internet surfers and teenagers as another show and a new form of reference to be enjoyed virtually. Games, contests and challenges along with prizes to be won, await viewers and surfers to this program and also to our Bsmart portal.

Image Platform Sdn Bhd (Bsmart) urges the support and welcomes the collaboration with ALL MRSM schools, its citizenship and parents to promote and embrace ProTeens 2011 as the new approach on internet (IPTV) and on TV as well as another efficient, fun and value added experience for our teenagers to be BETTER in performances, to be FASTER in accurate, sharp and with the right decision making skills and to be STRONGER in self-esteem and confidence as the future leaders of our progressive and developed Malaysia!

Share this new wave with your friends! Come together to decide and to see who and which college will be crowned as our first champion of ProTeens 2011!

It was not so long ago that it was uncommon for households to have a computer. Today, computer technology is looked upon as more of a requirement than a luxury for school.

When Computers Became Popular

You may still know some teachers who go without a cellular phone, but you are not likely to find a teac

her without an email account. In 1963, the Vocational Education Act was intended to provide more money to schools for technological support. Then the additional money for technology in schools was canceled in 1968, when it was believed the effort was waste in the classroom. However, in 1975, Apple computers were donated to some schools. By 1986, 25 percent of America’s high schools were using computers for vocational and college preparation. It was not until 1994 that the majority of schools had at least one PC available for instructional purposes.

Computers Encourage Creativity

With all of the programs and functions that computers and the Internet offer, there is something for everyone to use on a computer, which acts as an aid to students’ creativity. If you like music, you can easily find programs and activities related to music. If you like art, you can use design programs on the computer. With this additional freedom and opportunity to expand on what interests you, studies reported by John Cradler and Elizabeth Bridgforth of WestEd show that most students have improved in their homework and test scores, depending on the content and form of computer augmentation.

Students Ahead of Teachers

This generation of students has often been said to be the most computer adept. Coming into the computer age as a normality means that many high school students are more familiar with computer technology than some of the older generation who have had to learn computer skills late in life. Learning new skills is easier when you are younger, which may explain why students are often taking initiatives with their own learning when it comes to computer technology.

The Alteration in Attention

Since the younger generation is typically comfortable with computer technology, students’ attention to their schooling is believed to be more focused. Students are doing research online with ease and are supposedly motivated to learn more. Teachers, on the other hand, are no longer the main focus in the classroom while students go to the Internet for answers. And, particularly in computer classes, this sense of students’ independence is encouraged.

Easier to Cheat

Unfortunately, computer technology has also brought about easier means for students to cheat on their homework. Since most homework is typed, teachers cannot rely on comparing different forms of handwriting. In addition, students can merely copy work from the Internet or buy an essay online instead of doing their homework themselves. However, teachers are managing to keep up with students’ laziness and forms of plagiarism by using some online methods of their own to check students’ work through search engines and other computer programs

We really can’t get enough of these humanoid robots. Researchers collaborating from the Nippon Institute of Technology, Harada Vehicle Design, ZMP and ZNUG Design have just taken the wraps off another addition to the crew. The newest version of the e-NUVO walk bot stands about 4 feet tall, making it roughly the size of an elementary school aged child, and will be incorporated into classes to teach children about humanoid robots in a hands-on environment. We’ll admit that after seeing a video of the bot in action (it’s after the break), we’re pretty jealous of those school children.
